Goldsmiths University Motion Capture Residency

PLAYSCAPE” is a collaborative, real-time performance environment developed under the Goldlist TV Opera Software Residency (2023). Participants wear motion capture suits and see their movements translated into digital graphics, projected onto physical surfaces. The project explores how physical and digital surveillance intersect, with the cinematographer also becoming part of the performance. Remote collaboration between the UK and the USA allows partners to build shared landscapes, galaxies, and interactive worlds through Unity game engine testing. By merging technology, teamwork, and immersive visuals, PLAYSCAPE encourages collective creativity, inviting participants to shape a “celestial” environment that blurs the line between performer and observer.
